Is your council a member yet?*
Dial Before You Dig is a not for profit organisation that delivers a vital national community service designed to assist in preventing damage and disruption to Australia’s vast infrastructure networks which provide essential services used every day.
Our unique service is used by most of Australia’s major infrastructure asset owners, including various community organisations and local government councils, covering approximately 750,000km of underground assets nationally.
Council Members use Dial Before You Dig to protect assets including water, sewerage, road reserves and communication cables, as well as preserving, protecting and maintaining park lands, street trees, playground equipment, flora, shrines and cultural heritage sites accessible to the community.
Any project, irrespective of size, has the potential to damage assets located around the work site, leading to service interruptions, delays, costly repairs to asset owners and in the worst-case scenario, injury or death to council employees or contract staff.
Becoming a Dial Before You Dig Member minimises these risks to councils and the public by providing information about who is undertaking the project and knowledge about the work site.
Safety is a fundamental aspect of any excavation project and so Dial Before You Dig should always be the first point of contact: The Essential First Step.
Our State offices are committed in ensuring that those who own and work around infrastructure assets are protected and well informed by promoting industry Best Practices.
