Red Tape cut from tendering processes*

THE CouncilWise local government software and support business has been approved by Queensland’s Local Buy platform, opening up significant new opportunities for the Tasmanian based information technology (IT) company.

Local Buy has listed CouncilWise as an approved supplier of software and licensing, cloud-based technology and business and consultancy services and solutions.

This provides ready access and simplified purchasing arrangements for more than 100 councils in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Tasmania.

The appointment of CouncilWise follows an extensive evaluation and assessment process by Local Buy’s team of procurement specialists and means councils can buy IT software and services without going to tender.

Local Buy is owned by the Local Government Association of Queensland and was established in 1997 to meet the needs of government, reducing risk, time and costs associated with the procuring of goods and services. Its reach has been expanded to cover councils in Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

CouncilWise Chief Executive Officer, Ron Sanderson, said the appointment and national recognition was an important step forward for CouncilWise.

“As well as opening up a major market for our business, it provides substantial savings for councils purchasing IT services and support.

“Through Local Buy we are pre-qualified as a supplier, meeting all the compliance requirements, and importantly, councils don’t have to go through often lengthy tender processes. Councils can purchase the required software, support, consultancy or other IT service at the best possible price.

“It means that CouncilWise is now seen as a strong and legitimate supplier of these important services to local government.”

Sanderson said the Local Buy success came at an important time for CouncilWise as it was moving to increase its presence throughout Australia.

“The reality is that local government is increasingly being asked to do more with less, yet each year, many councils unnecessarily spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on computer software and hardware – money that should be spent on providing vital services for ratepayers.

“CouncilWise provides a low cost, cloud-based total software solution for local government that replaces high cost software suppliers and delivers important savings and efficiencies for users.

“The CouncilWise local government management platform has been developed by local government expert staff at Tasmania’s Brighton Council, in partnership with tech giant Microsoft.

“It is leading edge and offers a complete range of features to make running a council effortless and affordable.

“Importantly, it comes at a fraction of the cost of competing software.”

Sanderson said the 22 councils around Australia and the Pacific already using CouncilWise software and support can’t be wrong!

“Through Local Buy, purchasing our software and services is now even simpler and more cost effective for councils and our reach will be widened throughout Australia.”
