The eleventh National Local Government Infrastructure and Asset Management Conference will be held in Melbourne on May 7 and 8, 2014.
The event, convened by the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV), will feature a focus on the proposed new national funding arrangements for local roads and bridges, as well as a range of leading case studies looking at finding ways for councils to improve their sustainability.
The event showcases the latest thinking on future directions for local government infrastructure and asset management.
Topics to be addressed include creating the right environment to install a new asset management system, the new ISO asset management standard, new strategies for sustainable local infrastructure, the challenge of reviewing levels of service and developing successful long term financial plans.
In terms of roads, topics including measuring the performance of local road networks and best practice in bridge asset management will be dicussed; the Queensland Roads and Transport Alliance and The Digiroad national road database in Finland will also feature in presentations.
