Cessnock City Council’s recreational and community facilities will receive more than $70,000 in upgrades thanks to the Community Facilities Dollar for Dollar Grant Scheme.
The funding will be allocated to 32 successful applicants including schools, sporting clubs, community halls, and Tidy Town projects who will receive assistance with upgrades to facilities and equipment.
Cessnock City Council has a number of Dollar for Dollar Grants which provide funding across a range of activities encompassing community, cultural, environmental and economic initiatives.
The funding and support provided through these programs supports a diverse range of services and projects that directly benefit the Local Government Area.
Director of Works and Infrastructure Justin Fitzpatrick-Barr said the grants reflect the importance of recreational centres for the community’s wellbeing and as a place for young local talent to flourish.
“Over the years we have seen some great sporting talent come through the community and recreational programs as Cessnock local government area is renowned for our strong sporting culture.
“We’re excited to see some well-deserved funding injected into the community.”
