The Mayor of Randwick, Councillor Scott Nash and UNSW Vice-President, University Services, Neil Morris have signed a landmark Sustainability Agreement.
The innovative partnership enables Randwick City Council to access a number of specialist sustainability activities that are underway across the University, and facilitates practical learning opportunities for students to participate in sustainability-related projects, programs and strategies already being delivered by Council.
Mayor Scott Nash stated that the agreement was a fitting partnership for the two organisations.
“Randwick City Council and UNSW are both leaders in sustainability in our community, and this agreement represents a unique opportunity for Council and our residents to benefit from the specialist areas of research and learning that UNSW is renowned for.
“We have had a strong relationship with the University over many years, and have a great history of collaborating on projects. We look forward to building on this,” he said.
UNSW Vice-President, University Services, Neil Morris, agreed: “Sustainability is one of UNSW’s key research strengths. We’re keen to link student learning and research with opportunities for practical experience in the community. This formal framework will really assist in achieving that.”
The Agreement between the two organisations will continue for the next two years.
