Efficient and sustainable motoring with performance*

Through its breakthrough i and iPerformance ranges, BMW has brought efficient, sustainable motoring to the world.

The i3 has been a game-changer in terms of emission-free driving, dispelling longstanding myths with impressive range and performance. The pure electric i3 94Ah has a ‘real-world’ range, including using air-conditioning and the audio system, of over 200km. In Range Extender mode that grows to 330 kilometres. The eDrive synchronous electric motor generates 125kW of power with an instantaneous 250Nm of torque, which means the i3 sprints to 100km/h in only 7.3 seconds in pure electric form.

Then there is the i8, a plug-in-hybrid sports car designed to offer strong performance, agile handling and outstanding efficiency. A 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine combines with a 96kW/250Nm synchronous electric motor for overall performance of 266kW/570Nm – yet fuel consumption is only 2.1L/100 on the combined cycle.

In the iPerformance range, the BMW 330e Sedan and BMW X5 xDrive40e bring a hybrid alternative across BMW’s two-highest selling model range. Both models are capable of completing urban commutes exclusively via electric power (the 330e up to 37km, the X5 xDrive40e up to 31km), with overall fuel efficiency figures of 2.1l/100km for the 330e and 3.3l/100km for the X5 xDrive40e.
The BMW 740e brings ultra-luxury to the iPerformance range, with an all-electric range of up to 48 kilometres and a hybrid drivetrain generating 240kW with average fuel consumption of only 2.2L/100km.

The 530e will join the iPerformance range in June this year.
