Isaac Regional Council in central Queensland is encouraging the region’s young tech-savvy game changers.

The council’s libraries are on the hunt for the next generation to start moving Lego pieces, lifting and manoeuvring their custom-built robots.

Mayor Anne Baker said innovation and fun is at the mechanical heart of Lego Robotics.

“Robotics is part of our future and Council is a huge supporter of innovation and educational fun for our children,” the Mayor said.

“It is essential for Isaac’s developing creative thinkers and problem solvers to come together in a fun and interactive environment.

“It is highly possible the skills are needed for future jobs and perhaps could help in solving problems from medicine to infrastructure.
Mayor Baker strongly encouraged all budding gizmo geniuses aged between nine and 16 to be part of the program.

“The children will form Lego robotics teams across the Isaac – this is a chance for a team of up to 10 members to learn how to build working robots, to solve problems and complete challenges leading up to the Isaac Libraries Tech Fest in October at Dysart Library.”
