World class facility

City of Parramatta, New South Wales has delivered a highly functional, state-of-the-art sport and recreation park with a transformation costing $11.23 million.

The park has the City’s first synthetic, all-weather soccer and cricket fields; three new cricket practice nets; a basketball court; ‘street’ style skate area; play areas for toddlers and large climbing structures; picnic and barbecue areas; shelters; informal open lawns; lighting and new footpaths; and improved traffic and parking facilities.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor, Andrew Wilson, said, “The project has been a collaborative effort with funding from the State Government and the Hornsby Shire Council, who were responsible for the new design of the Park.

“City of Parramatta has now delivered the project, which will be enjoyed by the community for many years to come.”

The West Epping Park works were partially funded by the State Government under the Urban Activation Precinct Planning Support Scheme. Hornsby Shire Council designed the project and City of Parramatta took on the delivery of the works following Council amalgamations in May 2016.

Minister for Planning, Anthony Roberts, said the park funding was part of a $2.5 million package from the Precinct Support Scheme, which has delivered a major boost for locals and is financing similar projects across Sydney.

“As Sydney continues to develop into a world-class international city, it is important we provide more open space to cater for the needs of local people.”
