New Asset Management Qualification*

The Centre for Pavement Engineering Education (CPEE) launches the new online ‘Graduate Certificate in Asset Management’, starting Semester 1, 2021.

With the massive number of infrastructure programs being introduced by federal and state governments, and with many being fast tracked in the current environment, there is high and increasing demand for quality and competent infrastructure management specialists.

To help meet this demand CPEE will expand its online offerings in 2021 with the
introduction of the new ‘Graduate Certificate in Asset Management’.

The comprehensive course is aimed at both aspiring asset managers and those who already work in the space but want to sharpen and formalise their skills.

CPEE Chief Executive Officer, Ray Farrelly, said, “Given its importance, asset management has been
relatively under-resourced in terms of education and formal qualification opportunities in Australia.

“This new course fills the gap – not just for professionals working in roads, but across a broad range of physical infrastructure assets in local and state government and the private sector.

“The beauty of our online courses is that they offer the flexibility to study when and where it fits around your other commitments.

“It delivers a formal qualification and practical, transferrable skills that are in demand right across Australia and around the world.”

The core units of the new online course cover the principles of asset management and the economics of financial management.

Participants can choose two additional elective units from a suite of four, comprising road asset management, sustainable physical infrastructure, project management elements, and the principles, management and risks of contracts.

“Unit Chairs and educators from industry will teach this four-unit
Graduate Certificate.”

This Graduate Certificate has been developed with the support and input of CPEE partners’ Austroads and the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) and is accredited by the Federal Government’s Tertiary Education Quality and
Standards Agency (TEQSA).
