Dear LG Focus
For many like me in Australia who watched the Superbowl, the incredible Phoenix Stadium in Arizona was the real star of the show.
They have built a truly multi-purpose facility that has the ability to host football, basketball, soccer, concerts, consumer shows, motorsports and corporate events.
With its retractable pitch, such a stadium can cater for field events as well as being a fully-functional exhibition space.
Imagine if the new stadium for Western Sydney had that sort of functionality – a world leading, technologically innovative facility that puts fans at the centre of the experience?
I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it, Liverpool, capital of the Great South West, is the perfect place to build such a facility.
Located in the heart of vibrant Western Sydney, Liverpool will have a projected population of 1.3 million by 2031, making the city an ideal location for a new world-class stadium.
We are well located close to transport links including the South West Rail Link, M5 expansion and the new international airport at Badgerys Creek.
We have a young and growing population to support world-class sport and entertainment, plus we are able to offer the blank canvas site for such a facility.
Liverpool has a ready-to-go site, largely owned by the NSW Government at Woodward Park, that offers the opportunity for a world-class sports and entertainment precinct that is highly visible, walkable to the city centre and well connected by public transport.
Let’s give Western Sydney the stadium it deserves and locate it in Liverpool.
Kind Regards
Councillor Ned Mannoun
Liverpool City Council Mayor
