Primary producers in the Burdekin Shire Council are being urged to register for this year’s ChemClear program.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Bill Lowis said this national program allowed farmers and graziers to dispose of unwanted agvet chemicals in a safe and responsible manner.
“All our farmers and graziers have to do is register the chemicals for collection with ChemClear, then bring them to the Ayr Waste Transfer Station on the nominated day in June.
“They will need to lodge their registrations before the middle of April as only registered out-of-date or unwanted products will be collected.”
Councillor Lowis said Council supported the ChemClear program as it was an excellent opportunity to remove hazardous chemicals from the region.
“The last Queensland-wide collection was two years ago and I would urge local primary producers to take advantage of
this year’s event.”
