Green Army hits Eastfield Park

A Green Army team commenced work at Eastfield Park, Croydon, where they will carry out a variety of works as part of the Eastfield Park Rehabilitation & Revegetation Project.

The project will benefit both the local environment and young people who through their work with the Green Army are gaining important skills, training and work experience

Federal Member for Deakin, Michael Sukkar visited the site on Monday February 16 to see work commence.

Green Army is a hands-on initiative for young people aged between 17 to 24 years, interested in learning new skills, gaining practical experience and training, and an allowance.

The projects the Green Army take on will also help to conserve, enhance and protect the local environment.

Eastfield Park has links to numerous bike trails, is the largest continuous open space in the Maroondah City Council area and provides an important
wildlife corridor.

The Eastfield Park Rehabilitation and Revegetation Project will include tree planting, weed removal, landscaping, furniture repair and renewal, path construction, new signage, and fencing installation.

Maroondah City Council announced in a statement that it was wonderful to see the Eastfield Park Rehabilitation & Revegetation Project kick off thanks to the  Green Army.
