Regional Development Australia established

On 13 May 2008 Minister Albanese announced the establishment of Regional Development Australia (RDA) with an allocation of more than $17 million this year to ensure effective engagement with communities.

RDA will transition from the network of Area Consultative Committees. It will link closely to Local Governments and other regional organisations and provide strategic input into national programs, and improve the coordination of the Government’s regional development initiatives.

RDA’s final structure will be developed this year in consultation with regional communities and stakeholders.
