Rockhampton reflects commitment to staff

Rockhampton Regional Council recently saw 30 of its employees graduate with Certificate IV in Frontline Management, demonstrating its commitment to staff development.

The Certificate IV in Frontline Management covers ten units of management competency in areas such as people management, team effectiveness, customer service management and workplace learning.

Council’s Executive Manager of People, Performance and Wellbeing, Barbara Miller, highlighted the importance of ongoing staff education.

“This curriculum provides our staff with the opportunity to not only deliver quantifiable improvements for the organisation, but also provides them with the stepping stones to further their careers,” she said.

“A key priority is to improve our customer service standards, and the Frontline Management course provides our employees with the foundation to provide superior service to our residents and ratepayers.”

The course is nationally accredited and run by the CCIQ (Chamber of Commerce), and assessment was in the form of monthly tutorials and assignments.

The course was able to be modified to suit Council’s procedures.

Staff achieved a 75 per cent pass rate, well above the average of 35 per cent.

Council currently has a waiting list of participants for the next course, commencing in 2011.
