Bell residents have celebrated the official opening of the new $1.2 million Bell Bunya Community Centre.
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Ray Brown and former Western Downs Regional Councillor Mick Cosgrove declared the long-awaited multi-purpose community centre officially open.
Councillor Brown said the community centre, which was fully funded by the Council, was a great result for the town and local district.
“The Bell Community is very proud of this modern centre as it provides a hub for travellers looking for information and
for residents to facilitate community groups.”
Spokesperson for Cultural Development and Community Services Councillor Carolyn Tillman said the centre was a tribute to those behind
its completion.
“I would like to congratulate the Bell residents who have worked so hard for such a long time to realize the building of this community centre.
“I have visited the centre many times since it opened in October and have been impressed with the gallery and the art works on show there.
“The addition of the library now means locals can use it whenever the centre is open and check out their own books using the self-service facilities.”
The Bell Bunya Community Centre houses a multi-purpose community meeting space, art gallery, café, visitor information centre, library, and community health rooms.
