Skateramps Australia delivers its second Mobile Fun Box to Tasmania

First unit was delivered earlier in the year to Dorset Council and installed in Derby. Every few weeks it is moved to Branxholm. Later in the year, the Mobile Fun Box will also be placed in Winnaleah, on a three week rotation basis with the other two towns.

“We had a big launch in May with a live band and 100 people turned up,” said Jen Barron, Council’s Youth Health Officer. “The uptake has been really good with lots of young people using it. It has also been well accepted by other residents who are now asking when is coming back as the young people really miss it when it is not there.

“Council could not afford a facility for every town so the Mobile Fun Box is a great alternative.”

She said that young people really look forward to the return of the unit to their town, so there is a resurgence of interest each time.

The latest delivery of this portable mobile “skatepark” was to West Coast Council at Zeehan where it will service the surrounding townships providing an instant skate facility for local youth in this area.
