Skateramps Australia, well known for its fixed and mobile skating facilities, was recently commissioned by Sydney City Council to design, supply and install a replacement facility at Federal Park in Annandale. The new ‘lip ramp’ has been very well received by local skater groups and is in constant use by a range of age groups across the various skills levels.
“The lip ramp is good to learn on but also enables skaters to keep on progressing and developing their skills,” said Barry Schuetrumpf, Council’s Building Services Coordinator.
“We talked to local users and professional skateboarders about the sort of facility they wanted. Skateramps Australia then designed the facility to meet these needs. It was delivered at 9am one morning and up and running by lunchtime the next day.”
Four weeks since being installed, it has already been written up in a skateboarding magazine. “In December we are planning a community barbecue which will include painting a mural on the ramp so local kids will have even greater ownership of it.” Barry Schuetrumpf said. “It is attracting kids from other areas as the word spreads about its popularity.”
