Coffs Harbour, Nambucca and Bellingen Councils have developed a unified approach for promoting their popular region with an organisation known as Tourism Holiday Coast. Situated mid way between Sydney and Brisbane, the region is very accessible with excellent road, rail and air links.
Coffs Harbour airport has been accommodating 737s since the beginning of 1997 and an Environmental Impact Statement is currently being prepared on the viability of upgrading to 767 standard.
With a relatively compact area, visitors can travel to anywhere in the district within an hour experiencing a remarkable diversity of scenery and activity combining the coast, rivers, mountains, rainforest and hinterland.
Easy access is available to tropical rainforests, the Solitary Islands Marine National Park, Dorrigo Plateau, mountains, historical villages and craft markets. At the same time, visitors can enjoy excellent accommodation, cuisine and boutique shopping.
Tourism Holiday Coast provides information and excursions for visitors on a wide range of holiday experience and activities.
Visitors have the choice of caravan parks and backpacker accommodation through to four star holiday resorts, as well as bed and breakfasts, numerous motels and farm stays.
The region is the only area outside Sydney where the four major hoteliers are represented, with Rydges, Novotel, Southern Pacific and All Seasons providing over 600 four star resort rooms.
Visitors can pursue various leisure activities with a full range of sport and entertainment facilities. Soft scale adventure is well catered for with idyllic horse riding trails, a go kart track and whale watching.
