New logo for new identity

The logo for the new Adelaide Hills Council has been designed by a local student. The Council, established in 1997, brought together four former Councils making it one of the largest Councils, area wise, in South Australia.

“We needed a logo to establish and reinforce our new corporate identity,” said Jenny Coulls, Executive Assistant Strategy and Development Services “Rather than employ a professional graphic artist we thought it would be a chance to engage the community in identifying the key features that united the new Council of Adelaide Hills”.

Jenny said submissions were received from all areas of the unique district with its rich historical and heritage features. Adelaide Hills’ special significance for the broader South Australian community was reaffirmed with the Premier John Olsen officially launching the logo.

The Premier said in an environment of change, it is easy to lose sight of the very real need to establish an identity for a combined area, one which will carry the new Council, together with its entire community, into the future. “So it is pleasing to see that the Adelaide Hills Council has recognised this, responded and positioned itself to carry the vision of the whole Council area forward into the future,” he said.

The new logo incorporates an ‘A’ indicating both the name Adelaide and the integral relationship of the State capital and the Hills district which is represented by two shaded green arcs traversing the ‘A’.

John Olsen said economic development prospects are bright and it is a matter of seizing opportunities. “The community pulling together, establishing a common identity using the Hills image to brand local produce and become better known in the market place, will be an important part of that,” he said.

Jenny Coulls said the new logo has helped consolidate the sense of being a single Council area with a common purpose. She said there has been a very positive feedback from people about the design.
