Promoting business

Included in the new Civic Centre complex as part of the City Centre Revitalisation Plan will be a Centre for Business Development to ‘incubate’ and grow local businesses.

According to Director Strategic Planning, Stuart Jardine, major structural changes in the economy has left Gosnells particularly exposed.

“The challenge now is to create new jobs and training opportunities that will provide for current and future job markets,” he said.

The Centre will be critical in helping new businesses to establish, and promoting the kind of business development that Gosnells has identified will create the most employment opportunities.

This includes the services industry and home based businesses.

It will also assist existing businesses wanting to make the most of new technology, and link businesses to each other for group marketing and support.

The Centre has the endorsement of the South East Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

It is also supported by the South East Metropolitan College of TAFE which will provide training consistent with the needs of the new directions in local employment.

Council believes the Business Centre will be invaluable in ‘kickstarting’ the revitalisation of the Gosnells City Centre in its bid to grow the local economy and attract inward investment.
