New look Focus for 2001

In October, Local Government Focus, commenced its 17th year of publication. January 2001 will also mark Focus’ 5th birthday as a national newspaper. Going from strength to strength, this December edition will be the last produced using the separate Green and Gold mastheads. Commencing next year, a new look, larger edition, with a combined Green and Gold masthead, will see the same edition being distributed to all Councils throughout Australia.

From 1996 until the present, Councils in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania received the Green banner edition, while Councils in South Australia, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland, received the Gold edition. This resulted in some issues and best practice examples not being promoted in all areas. Our revamp for 2001 will address this, ensuring that all Councils receive the same edition.

We have also totally overhauled our web site to match the new look Focus. The new look site can be found at www.lgfocus.com.au.

The Focus website was first launched in 1996. Registering over 50,000 page views during the month of October, it is a very popular site.

The revamped site has been designed to improve ease of navigation and attractiveness in a rapidly evolving and ever changing medium. As an electronic archive, showcasing hundreds of best practice examples of Australian Councils, it is well worth bookmarking.
