TechOne acquires ProClaim to offer

Two of Local Government’s most successful software systems, Finance One and ProClaim will fast track an integrated software solution in financial management and property and ratings systems. The move follows the acquisition last month of ProClaim Software by Technology One.

Technology One is one of Australia’s largest publicly listed IT companies, with a market capitalisation in excess of $400 million dollars. ProClaim Software was a privately owned software house established five years ago that provided an integrated suite of software systems to the Local Government market, encompassing rating, property and licensing.

CEO of Technology One, Adrian Di Marco said, “What excited us about ProClaim is that their system is the only new generation Local Government system on the market today. When we surveyed their customers we found they were very happy and supportive of the product. This acquisition will allow Technology One to offer an integrated enterprise software solution to Local Government, all from one supplier.

“Our solution will encompass rating, property and licensing (ProClaim), financials (Finance One) and payroll/human resources (People One), all from one supplier (Technology One). These systems are ‘best of breed’ in their own right but they can now also be bought off the shelf as a totally integrated solution.

“Councils will continue to have the option of using ProClaim and Finance One separately, allowing them to mix and match them with their existing solutions from other suppliers.”

With ProClaim currently installed in 20 Councils and Finance One in close to 30, the combined penetration of both software systems is nearing 50 across Australia.

The Finance One and ProClaim solution is expected to fill a niche in the software sector for the increasing demand by Local Government for integrated solutions from a single supplier. Already, the Finance One and ProClaim package is being installed in one of New South Wales’ largest Local Government authorities, Penrith City Council, with a major Council in Victoria set to seal a similar deal this month.

Adrian Di Marco said that Technology One recognised the pitfalls of Councils dealing with multiple suppliers and the subsequent difficulties of integrating software.

“The internal resources required for project managing numerous systems that don’t easily integrate is a significant cost for Councils,” he said. “The trend now is for Councils to select a prime contractor who can provide a streamlined software solution, particularly for financials and property systems. We are committed to offering the best of both worlds – high performance, best of breed software packaged in a one stop, seamless solution from one supplier.”

He said this would provide Councils with significant advantages including streamlining operations, greater flexibility, increased productivity and cost efficiencies.

“With Technology One’s substantial investment in world leading research and development (R&D), this will ensure its software systems used by Councils stay at the forefront of changes in technology, protecting our customers’ investment in our software solution for the long term,” he said.

Finance One currently offers a number of eBusiness modules including eEnquiries, a full web based executive and management enquiry system; eProcurement, a web based purchase requisitioning system and eShop allowing customers to shop electronically via the web.

These internet delivered capabilities would be progressively leveraged across all the company’s products, enabling Councils to take advantage of new technologies and to be at the leading edge of software applications.

Adrian Di Marco said another benefit for Councils is that because Technology One is a top 150 publicly listed company with a market capitalisation in excess of $400 million, Council staff were able to deal with a financially strong, 100 percent Australian owned company that is able to protect their investment.

“This ensures a long term commitment to the Australian Local Government market,” he said.
