Access Expo 2001 not to be missed
25-27 October – Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne

25-27 October – Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne

Access Expo is a comprehensive three day exhibition of products and services for disability, rehabilitation and aged care. Now in its 16th year, Access Expo includes over 100 companies, government departments and service providers, who share ParaQuad Victoria’s mission, to enable people of all abilities to maintain an independent lifestyle.

Professional development seminars, consumer workshops and adapted recreation demonstrations compliment this unique event.

‘Access by Design – A Practical Solution’ will discuss the inter relationship between the State Building Acts, the Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards, and the Disability Discrimination Act and its requirements. With the introduction of the Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act, the community faces the challenge of addressing non discriminatory access to property and buildings for people of all abilities.

Speakers will present details of new developments and changes within the building industry, which ensure access for all, and how knowledge and compliance will protect against the possibility of litigation. Speakers include Peter Nassau, Building Manager – Building Control Commission (Victoria); Michael Small, Senior Policy Officer Human Rights & Equal Opportunity Commission; and Murray Mountain, Chairman, and Australian Standards ME/64 Committee. Ivan Peterson, (ADAS) & Access & Integration Planner at the City of Banyule will convene the seminar.

Access Expo is an invaluable resource for equipment, services and information relating to physical, sensory and intellectual disability, independent living options, assistive technology and community access issues.

ACCESS EXPO 2001 is a must for all healthcare professionals, consumers, aged care facility managers and staff, purchasing officers, building surveyors, advocacy groups, planning consultants, landscape architects, property developers, architects, property managers, Councils and Local Government disability and planning officers.
