Stanthorpe Shire to go online with AusSoft Solutions

Stanthorpe Shire Council has joined with AusSoft Solutions to extend the Shire’s GraniteNet project. Supported by funds from Networking the Nation , this project is developing an online services partnership for Stanthorpe businesses and the community.

It will be based upon the AusSoft Corporate System currently being used by Council.

“The Partnering Agreement between AusSoft Solutions and Stanthorpe Shire Council gives Council staff the opportunity to experience first hand the introduction of electronic services,” said Stanthorpe Shire Council’s, Chief Executive Officer, Terry Brennan. “Council Staff can also be involved in refining the information available on the Internet to achieve the best outcome for the Shire.”

AusSoft Solutions is currently developing an Interactive Database driven Web Site for Council which will be the entry point for all Internet Services and Facilities for the community. The web site will provide links to a local Street Directory allowing residents to locate streets and addresses over the Internet.

AusSoft will also provide Council with an Internet Rates Enquiry System, enabling ratepayers to research their personal property information electronically. Ratepayers will also be able to download Bank Authority Forms from the Internet to view their current transactions with Council.

In addition, AusSoft will build an On Line Electronic Ordering Service which will allow Council to produce orders electronically and encourages suppliers to enquire over the Internet as to the status of their orders and payments.

“The development of this agreement with AusSoft Solutions will place the Stanthorpe Shire Council as leaders in this rapidly advancing technology that ‘empowers the customer’,” said Economic Development Manager, Tom Knobel. “This empowerment applies not only to Council staff but to local residents within the Shire. With the introduction of these online services, Council will be able to update content on the web site and provide community members with current information at all times.”

GraniteNet Project Officer, Sue Organ, said that the real benefit of Council being part of this agreement, is a reduction in costs overall, along with the ability to work with AusSoft to produce a viable system that can be trialed and used as a model for other Councils.
