The Cardinia Way

The Cardinia Way has been developed as a guide to the culture of Cardinia Shire Council, its values and keys to success. This innovative approach to staff relations underlines the commitments of management to staff, highlights the organisation’s values and underpins the Human Resources Strategy.

People working at Cardinia are part of an organisation that values its staff by actively encouraging them to expand their competencies in a way that provides job satisfaction and career development. Rewards are based on staff commitment to The Cardinia Way through performance management, developing competencies and achieving team and individual goals.

Council recognises that its greatest investment is its people and it wants its staff to reflect this investment by becoming Cardinia ambassadors in their social and business activities. A team of competent, professional, loyal people will deliver the highest standard of quality customer service.

The organisation knows that staff who have a sense of well being and feel valued will be more likely to stay and continue to contribute to Cardinia Shire Council being an employer of choice and a leader in Local Government.

Staff were given a special Cardinia Way address book at the launch earlier this year. The book has the key messages throughout and is a practical way of reinforcing the culture throughout the year. People applying for jobs at Cardinia are encouraged to look at The Cardinia Way principles on the website, and it is has become part of the induction for new staff.
