Enhancing Council meeting processes

Incorporated in January 1999, Walman Software assists Local Government in the preparation of agendas and minutes. Using the LogoCreate application, the meeting process is enhanced via LogoView and Forum. LogoCreate uses the power and flexibility of Microsoft Word plus a few additional extras that help produce an agenda. The extras include unique numbering of items, adding electronic attachments and importing reports quickly and easily from other sources.

LogoView is an optional extra that is used to download and view the agenda. It allows the user to make notes against items for discussion in the Council meeting.

“As a user of LogoView, I have been very surprised and indeed appreciative of the time saved by this electronic media for meetings,” said Julie Carter, Administration Officer, at the City of Melville. “LogoCreate has been well received by the Officers who compile and publish the many Agendas/Minutes produced by a large local authority. LogoView is a simplistic approach for Elected Members with a busy schedule to be kept informed without the mass of paper.”

Forum is an enhancement to the meeting process. It follows the standing orders and records everything from amendments through to each vote cast by elected members. It is ideal for projection onto a large screen for public gallery viewing. There is an optional voting module that allows elected members to cast their vote via a notebook connected into a LAN.

“With all the motions and voting clearly displayed on the large screen, everyone is able to see Council’s decisions,” said Mike Smith, Manager Council Support Services, at the City of Joondalup.
