Toowoomba’s trainee program

Toowoomba City Council’s 12 month traineeship program offers doors to a myriad of career paths. This is a good opportunity for members of the community, students and young people under 25 years.

Council offers 12 month traineeships in a variety of careers, including information technology, horticulture, civil construction, sports and recreation administration, business administration, arts administration, library and information studies, and engineering design and survey.

Another such program available at Council is the Youth Project 500. This program provides trainees with guidance in life and interpersonal skills as well as job skills. Trainees are assigned with a mentor for the duration of their traineeship and receive assistance with their job search at the end of their time. Along with this, trainees have access to Council staff for advice and are able to apply for internally advertised job vacancies for three months after the completion of their traineeship under the Youth Project 500.

Applications for traineeships with Council close this month, with successful applicants beginning their traineeships in February 2003.
