Caboolture Shire has received the prestigious honour of publishing the top annual report for Queensland Local Government. The Queensland branch of the Institute of Internal Auditors – Australia has selected Caboolture for the President’s Special Recognition Award for the Queensland Public Sector 22nd Anniversary Annual Report Awards.
Caboolture Shire CEO, Rob Noble, said the award demonstrated Council’s strong commitment to improving its own accountability.
“When we see the ruin and hardship caused by the collapse of major corporations around the world, I believe it’s more important than ever to set the bar as high as possible on public accountability,” he said. “This is exactly what Council is doing by striving for excellence in reporting on its business performance and financial management.”
He said Council welcomed the recognition given by sponsors, PricewaterhouseCoopers, to the award that helped strengthen best practice in the effective management of Local Government.
The Institute’s judges described Caboolture’s 2001-2002 annual report as one of the most impressive ever published by a Local Government. Council also received an Award of Excellence and six special mentions in the 10 annual report award categories.
In line with modern annual report standards, Council produced its report on CD for the first time.
