A CD has been designed for the induction of new Local Government employees in south west Victoria. The CD was launched at the Killara Complex in Camperdown by Victorian Industrial Relations Minister, Rob Hulls, on 23 May.
It was developed by Human Resource officers at Glenelg, Corangamite, Moyne, Southern Grampians, Warrnambool and Colac Otway Councils.
Colac Otway Shire General Manager, Merv Hair, said the CD would improve the induction process for new staff by allowing Councils to share information.
“This project will provide consistent early knowledge for new employees in Local Government.”
The format is divided into four stages — the first day, week, month and three months — allowing each Council to stop the presentation and explain their own procedures.
“By presenting the information at various times over the first three months, it helps ensure new employees are not overwhelmed,” Merv Hair said.
The Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development provided $20,000 for the project and Deakin Prime provided technological support.
