Doing your business tax online with Business Portal

The Tax Office’s Business Portal can help save you time when preparing and lodging activity statements.

The portal is a secure web site where you can also revise, view and print your activity statements.

Local Governments often provide services that don’t generate income yet their purchases remain high. These businesses should lodge their activity statement through the Business Portal to receive their GST refund sooner.

You can also view your activity statement, income tax, fringe benefit tax and certain superannuation accounts online.

Need to update your business details? You can view and update some business registration details, including your bank account details, on the portal.

There is an Online Access Manager function that allows you to grant staff access to different functions of the portal depending on their position.

You can also send and receive secure messages to and from the Tax Office on a range of topics. To get started, you need a free ATO digital certificate to access the portal. After registering on the Tax Office web site you’ll receive an online services set up CD which guides you through the process of installing your digital certificate.

You only have to do this once and it will take about 20 minutes.
