Give me that photo – now!

Most Local Governments have a huge body of images, pictures and logos. These range from photos of Councillors and Council functions, through to shots of the best features of the municipality, to different versions of the Council logo. Most Councils now have a large and valuable body of images with great marketing importance.

Yet when images are urgently needed, there is a mad scramble to find that one picture, usually requiring hours of sometimes fruitless searching – either hunting through myriad CDs or hard drives or wading through boxes, filing cabinets and archive rooms.

Local Governments across Australia are now embracing an online solution to image management. lookat.me is an advanced, robust, economical and user friendly online image system.

Using leading edge technology, lookat.me has a simple interface that means images are quickly and efficiently distributed through a highly effective search engine. Stonnington, Moonee Valley and Moreland in Victoria and Coffs Harbour in New South Wales have used lookat.me as a practical and effective way to manage their graphic libraries.

Banyule City Council Communications Coordinator, Trish Hosking, said one of the main benefits of having an online gallery is its productivity benefits in archiving and retrieval of digital photography.

“The solution provided by lookat.me clearly has benefits and offers opportunity for multiple applications across the organisation,” Trish said. “We get a permanent storage of our image library and people get access to the files in a simple manner. Photos can also have prepared captions to allow quick use by the media and suppliers. It provides a practical solution for maintaining our investment in corporate photography.”

As well as a range of Federal and State government bodies, major corporations using lookat.me include Australian Geographic, Dulux, Orica Limited and Selleys.
