SEGRA Adaptable Regions: open minds open opportunities

28-30 August 2006, Northern Tasmania, Launceston

‘Adaptable Regions: open minds open opportunities’ is the theme for the tenth national Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia Conference (SEGRA). The conference is hosted by Northern Tasmania Development. SEGRA 2006 will consider the range of skills and knowledge to foresee and take advantage of opportunities, provide practical solutions to overcome key economic regional problems and will hear from some of Australia’s leading regional economic and industry experts. Open minds and open opportunities means being able to respond and seize opportunities with appropriate and timely actions that can be effectively implemented to produce a sustainable future for regional Australia.

Director of the SEGRA Secretariat, Kate Charters, said that SEGRA 2006 provides an excellent opportunity for business, academics, industry, government and community to discuss and debate key issues concerning economic growth in regional Australia and work in partnership to successfully grow regions.

“SEGRA brings together real achievers of economic growth and provides an opportunity for delegates to learn and exchange information in an interactive environment and leave motivated and equipped to build sustainable regions – an opportunity offered only by SEGRA,” Kate Charters said.

Some of the key action agenda topics for this year include: where is regional development and where do we want to be; maximising and optimising government, community, business and practitioner strategies; foreseeing economic social environmental and political trends and their implications for regions; building organisation and knowledge capacities to change and enhancing decision making capacities for effective strategies.

Program and registration details are available on the SEGRA website at www.segra.com.au/segra. For more information, contact Kate Charters on (07) 3210 0021 or email info@segra.com.au
