Dandenong Market – the future

If there is one thing that has stood the test of time in Dandenong, it’s the Dandenong Market. The goods and produce market, established at its present site in the city centre in 1926, brought hundreds of farmers and their families into the town each Tuesday.

Thousands of visitors continue to flock to the market each week and the market still remains an important feature of the city. That’s why Council has decided to redevelop the market. Changes include the construction of an Aldi Supermarket, new loading docks for the produce market, and upgrades to both the underground and its King Street car parks.

The $3.2 million Stage 1 redevelopment, being carried out by ADCO Constructions Pty Ltd, is in line with Council’s vision for the CBD. The development is consistent with our commitment to effectively manage our facilities, provide safe pedestrian movement and most importantly encourage a vibrant community.
