Fit for a King!

Armytage Hall in Dandenong is now Council’s premier youth music venue. Known as The Castle, more than $1 million has been spent building a raised stage, backstage area, audio control facilities and an acoustic buffer to turn the run down hall into a new home for the Council’s Muso Network.

The facility has been partly funded thanks to the State Government’s Community Support Fund. Council can now offer training in event management, promotions, stage management, sound and PA to many more young people. Young people were consulted in The Castle’s development to ensure it would meet their needs. Because this venue is for the youth of the city, Council needed to make sure they were a major part of the planning process.

Council’s Manager of Children, Youth and Family Services, Pam Regan, said the project is an important component in the transformation of Hemmings Park into the city’s premier youth precinct. Additional works include replacement of the toilet block, upgrading of playground equipment, construction of a BMX jumps track and over all park improvement to complement the existing amenities.
