Queensland LG Community Services 2006 Conference

25-27 October in Yepoon

The Size Shape Sustainability (SSS) initiative is one of the most significant issues to face Queensland Local Government in many years. In recognition of the increased pressures being placed on Councils, the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and the Queensland Local Government Community Services Association (QLGCSA) have resolved to actively promote the need to consider reform to ensure the long term sustainability of Queensland Local Government.

The community development services sector of Queensland Local Government will not escape these reforms.

This conference asks what are these impacts likely to be? How can we help to shape the future rather than be affected by it? How can we make use of this opportunity to increase our stake in core business operations? How can we bring our skills to the reform process and support a whole of council approach?

Confirmed speakers at this stage include Greg Hallam, Executive Director of LGAQ, Pam Bourke, Director of Policy and Programs, Auckland City Council, and Graham Sansom, Associate Professor from UTS Centre for Local Government.

This is your opportunity to explore all of these themes and more. We will also seek input from you about the future sustainability and growth of the sector.

Remember – if you’re not at the table you’re likely to be on the menu!! You can’t afford to miss this conference!
