Perth hosts breakfast for PM and Ministers

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and City of Perth Lord Mayor, Lisa Scaffidi, at Council House on 21 January 2008.

Perth’s Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said that a breakfast function on 21 January with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at Council House was a great honour and she is confident that it represents the start of a strong working relationship with the new Federal Government for Perth and Western Australia.

“It was a privilege for the Council to be able to host the leader of our nation and several Ministers to a breakfast event,” the Lord Mayor said. “The Prime Minister was very well received by the audience of more than 100, which included the Acting Premier, Eric Ripper MLA, and key State Government Ministers as well as many influential city based decision makers.

“Mr Rudd confirmed his Government is committed to working in partnership with the major cities on issues which are central to national prosperity. He realises commitments to key infrastructure projects will often require Federal assistance and this was seen as a positive for the city’s future plans.

“It is the first time that a Prime Minister and his Cabinet colleagues have visited the City of Perth to meet with Perth’s key corporate leaders and decision makers in such a forum.

“The City of Perth is looking forward to building on the relationship which has now been established.”
