Tapex artificial turf a headturner*

The dramatic acceleration in the swing to artificial turf has seen it appear everywhere from the bowling greens to the backyards of Australia. Tennis courts, golf courses, soccer and hockey pitches are among the range of sporting fields all turning artificial as local councils and sporting organisations join the revolution.

Recently artificial turf made headlines in Melbourne when property owners began installing it in the forecourts and nature strips along St Kilda Road as Melbourne’s world famous boulevard began losing the fight against the ravages of the drought, leaving dangerously protruding tree roots for couriers and their motorbikes. This sward of green soon had other property developers dismissing their dust bowls for synthetic turf.

But the transition has not come without casualties. All synthetic grass is not the same. The pile, texture, life cycle and UV features vary dramatically and as a result each performs differently. That is why local councils, State Governments and sporting associations are seeking out the wisdom of Tapex to assist them in their decision about which turf suits their needs.
