Leader in event management training*

The Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM), University of Technology, Sydney is a leader in event management education, training and research. The centre offers a range of high quality, innovative products and services that are designed to promote best practice in event management.

The 2009 program incorporates a range of courses relevant for Local Government and includes:

  • the Executive Certificate in Event Management, a short
    course of six days (2 x 3 days), designed to provide a
    foundation of key skills and knowledge associated with the
    creation and delivery of events
  • a series of one day workshops designed for professionals
    involved in the event industry, including risk
    management and OH&S for events
  • the Executive Certificate in Crowd Management, a four day
    short course designed for event managers wishing to create
    safer events; managers in government organisations who are
    involved with public safety and events; police, fire and
    health/safety services that are linked to events; and risk
    managers
  • the International Event Management Summit – the key
    theme of this two day conference is Meeting the Challenge of Sustainable Development: How do public and corporate events engage with the global agenda?

The summit will also deal with more general themes associated with the further professionalisation of the Australian and international events industry.

Workshops will be a key feature of the conference and will deal with areas such as risk management and OH&S, event creation and pitching in challenging times.
