Turning a club into a thriving community centre

Auburn Council has set about converting the old unused Bowling Club in the North Auburn area, into an exciting new community facility.

To ensure that the community and local community groups had a say and are included in the management of the facility, Council organised an extensive consultation program which has been recorded in a special documentary.

Filmed by documentary maker, Ali Russell, the short film records the extraordinary consultation process, including interviews with former bowling club members, local stories and highlights the rapidly changing nature of Auburn as well as aspects of the area’s history.

A preliminary works improvement program has been carried out to improve security and to carry out basic repairs. The remaining upgrade works are envisaged to be completed toward the end of 2009.
