We care about our carers

“I have great work-life balance,” said Town Planning Assistant, Amanda Connolly. “I work part time with two children, roughly 20 hours a week in school hours. That enables me to drop my kids off at school every morning and I don’t work Fridays.

“It is a great environment in which to work. The flexibility I am offered is incomparable and crucial to my work-life balance.”

Senior Construction Project Engineer, Teck Boon Sim, feels very supported in his role at Council. “I find this Council a good place to work,” he said. “Throughout my unforeseen family challenge, I have had tremendous support from my colleagues and manager. I am working four days a week with the flexibility of working five days at shorter hours if I choose.

“I need to ensure that my wife is cared for when I am at work, and to perform my professional duties at the highest level without being compromised.

“As a Construction Engineer with extensive experience in both public and private sectors, I am well respected in my field. I help to ensure that projects we build meet high quality standards and I feel great satisfaction in seeing our projects done well.

“I feel lucky to have a good job in Council. I get great support as well as the self esteem.”

Strategic Planner Jacqui Brasher said, “it’s important to always maintain your composure and be willing to adjust to life as it happens”.

With four boys under 13, career parent Jacqui works part time and is well qualified to comment.
