Record growth in Stirling

With a record number of 435 building applications (BAs) lodged in October, the City of Stirling in the northern suburbs of Perth believes this is a good indication that consumer confidence has returned and that the economic downturn is a thing of the past.

Stirling CEO Stuart Jardine said the spike in BAs is greater than anything Council has seen since October 2007 and a fantastic sign for local economic development.

“The City has made gradual improvements since January this year, but the October spike represents a complete ‘V’ recovery compared with previous months, which constantly sat around 320 BAs,” he said.

Stirling Mayor David Boothman said the level of applications being lodged is a good indication that confidence has returned to the marketplace and Stirling is back at record levels once again.

Development application processing times average around 16 days, with 83 per cent of all applications processed within 20 days.

Building application processing times average around five days, with 99 per cent of all applications processed within 20 days.

“These figures prove that not only are we back on track with the level of development going on in the City, but we are also exceeding industry averages,” Councillor Boothman said.

“It’s all go in Stirling!”
