Are you concerned about the effect of Climate Change on local communities?
Would you like to know how local communities and councils are approaching Climate Change?
Do you want to learn from others and how they have actively prepared for Climate Change?
Blue Mountains City Council is hosting the inaugural Local Climate Local Change Conference in August 2010. This conference is tipped to be the ‘how to’ of climate change, offering a one stop shop for climate change adaptation and mitigation actions, as well as attitudes and information that show the frontline actions from local communities and councils around Australia.
“The Conference is a learning opportunity for all interested climate change practitioners irrespective of their private or public sector, academic or technical affiliations,” said Blue Mountains Mayor Adam Searle. “It is an opportunity to come together to learn about and exchange views on the efforts of local communities and councils in facilitating their community’s readiness for climate change.”

The community climate challenge
With the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit not delivering the desired outcome for the Australian and global community, it is time again for our communities to tackle the climate change issue. The Local Climate Local Change Conference is very timely, as it is now very clear that communities and councils will be the ones to take responsibility for dealing with climate change.
Who will attend the conference?
Everyone and anyone that is involved and interested in the transition to a climate change future. The conference will relate to all those interested in the efforts of local communities in adapting and mitigating for climate change, including professional practitioners, Local, State and Federal Government officers, academics, community climate change organisations, eco-ambassadors, the green economy sector, clean technology businesses, the tourism industry, suppliers to Local Government and the community.

What better place than the
Blue Mountains?
Where better than a City within a World Heritage Area to remind everyone what it is that we are trying to protect and to demonstrate the likely impacts of climate change on natural areas, while showcasing the best efforts of the local community and Council.
It’s never been a better time to visit the Blue Mountains!
The Blue Mountains region is located less than two hours from Sydney in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. It is a place of great natural beauty and rich cultural resources.
