Listening and delivering

Burwood remains a high traffic area in Sydney and Council is required to plan for continuous maintenance of its roads and footpaths.

Thanks to a comprehensive audit of all its roads and footpaths, Council has been able to prioritise the necessary capital works and allocate funds accordingly. One of the major projects Council has undertaken over the last two years is the $2 million restyling of Railway Parade, a major east west thoroughfare through Burwood.

The road has been widened and now features a median strip, multipurpose poles with lights, flags and CCTV cameras. It has been named ‘Avenue of Nations’ for the numerous national flags displayed, representing all the nationalities living in Burwood.
