An eventful City

The City of Bayswater organises a range of high profile and exciting events that attract people from across the region. Amongst the best known are the Avon Descent finish line event and the Autumn River Festival, both of which are held at Riverside Gardens on the Swan River foreshore.

Mayor Terry Kenyon said the City’s investment in these events delivers many benefits.

“Events bring people together and in that way they help to strengthen and connect communities,” he said.

“They also add vibrancy and a sense of vitality, which in turn builds the City’s profile and attractiveness as a place in which to live, invest and visit.”

The City’s events calendar features around 15 events, ranging from the North of Perth Music Festival to jazz concerts, annual dance festival and a movie showing as part of the Perth International Art Festival Floating Films.

The finish line event for the internationally renowned Avon Descent, which attracts competitors from across Australia and overseas, is one of the most anticipated events featured in the City’s calendar.

Around 15,000 people gather each year on the Swan foreshore to enjoy the entertainment and cheer on the competitors as they complete the gruelling 134 kilometre course.
