Cowra Entrepreneur Program targets agribusiness

With training starting on 28 October 2010, the fourth group of the Cowra Entrepreneur Program (CEP) predominantly targeted agricultural service businesses.

This is the first time that the course has offered a Certificate IV in Small Business Management at the conclusion of the training.

The Entrepreneur Program was established in 2008 as a Council initiative designed to provide local business managers with the skills and tools necessary to make more informed decisions.

“Over 75 people have participated in the four CEP and two KEP (Koori Entrepreneur Program) groups,” said Cowra Mayor Councillor Bill West.

“Programs like this can really help a business manager to understand planning, marketing, finance and other vital aspects of good business practice.

“This can give our Cowra Shire businesses the edge in competing on a local, regional and even national scale.

“To obtain a Certificate IV qualification as well is a real bonus”.

The training is funded by the NSW Department of Education and Training through Skillset, a training division of Central West Group Apprentices.

The cost to participants is $350 for a full Certificate IV course (valued at $4,500 per person) and includes 12 three hour workshops, coaching, training and mentoring assistance.

This course was limited to 15 participants.
