Infrastructure a priority in Sutherland Shire

Sutherland Shire Council has undertaken major infrastructure projects worth tens of millions of dollars in the past few years including a major new development at Cronulla at the height of the economic downturn.

The Cronulla Central facility was completed in 2009 at a cost of $18 million providing a new library, community hall, quality retail and office space and 130 new carparking spaces.

Council also completed a new state-of-the-art community facility at Engadine at a cost of $10 million. The award-winning project has attracted other private sector development nearby and rejuvenated the town centre.

It is the first stage of a two stage development where council has entered a partnership with aged care operator, Moran Group, to develop a multi-storey aged care facility on the site in the near future.

Council also opened a nine hole golf course at Barden Ridge called ‘The Ridge’ in May 2009 with the second nine holes under construction.
