eAudiobooks live at Mount Gambier Library

South Australia’s Mount Gambier City Council has introduced eAudiobooks as the latest innovation at its state of the art library.

Launched on 1 March, the digital library solution features audiobooks that residents can download direct from the Mount Gambier Library website.

Believed to be a first for South Australian libraries, the audiobooks are device neutral and fully compatible with all MP3 players.

Provided by Bolinda digital, the service is simple and easy to use.

It offers an extensive range of the most borrowed and highly demanded audiobooks – and provides residents with another reason to visit or join their local library.

“More and more we’re living in a digital world, allowing us all to enjoy words and sound from the smallest, lightest, most portable audio players ever,” said Library Manager Cathryn Harris.

“The Bolinda product is designed specifically for libraries to take advantage of the format change from CD to digital files. Instead of delivering audio content in a physical product, it’s a simple digital download.

“Library members can browse, borrow and download a digital audiobook without leaving their living room. The simply visit the library website and select from the extensive list of bestselling audiobooks, and play them on any MP3 compatible device.”

The audiobook range features Australian and international writers, including Bryce Courtenay, Kate Morton, Stephanie Meyer, Elizabeth Gilbert and Richard Branson.

“Its great for people whose life is too busy for reading, who want something to distract from a long commute, or are just looking to unwind,” Cathryn Harris said.
