Zero Waste Summit*

The 3rd Annual Zero Waste Summit is coming to Melbourne from 15-17 August and will once again highlight the latest strategies to help you improve your council’s waste diversion performance, with a focus on organics, commercial and industrial waste, and e-waste.

Based on feedback from our repeat attendees, the conference has an interactive format and is filled with local and international speakers that make it a stand out event for attendees every year.

One of this year’s international speakers is Greg Moore, who chairs Metro Vancouver’s Waste Management Committee. Greg Moore will provide important lessons for Australian councils as he discusses Vancouver’s organics diversion program, part of the city’s Zero Waste Challenge Strategy.

Another hotly topical local issue is waste to energy technologies, and UK based Adam Read will take the debate to a new level in Australia when he presents at the Summit.

Adam Read who works at UK consultancy AEA, is currently providing technical advice to a number of UK municipalities on waste technology choice, and was part of the UK Government funded new technology program designed to prove that advanced waste technologies are appropriate to the UK. He will use his vast experience working on waste to energy projects in the UK to discuss which technologies are appropriate for Australia.

With a range of speakers from local council such as Melanie Oke from Melbourne City Council and Harry Copeland from Brisbane City Council, as well as a workshop on day three designed specifically for councils interested in diverting organics from the waste stream, this is one event anyone working in waste management in local council should not miss.
