“Hello, I’m Charles Sturt” wins social marketing award

The City of Charles Sturt has been given the Social Marketing Award at the Australian Marketing Institute’s state awards ceremony.

The social marketing category required excellence in community marketing, where the marketing program conveyed clarity of purpose, a clear understanding of the Charles Sturt community, and effective use of communication channels and measurements which could analyse the success of the program.

The Charles Sturt “Hello, I’m Charles Sturt” campaign will now be considered as a national finalist in the Social Marketing Category at the 2011 National AMI Awards for Marketing Excellence.

CEO Mark Withers said back in 2007, we spoke in depth to the community to better understand the kind of city in which our residents wanted to live, work and play.

“Residents and businesses told us they wanted a vibrant city that embraced diversity, celebrated achievements and promoted a sense of identity and place,” he said.

“We didn’t want to produce something exaggerated; we wanted everyone to connect with Charles Sturt.

“We developed a marketing strategy that would create a sense of community and give our residents a positive image of the area in which they live.

“We want to add value to people’s lives, their properties and their businesses. “This award recognises the positive impact the campaign has had, and we look forward to continuing to provide ways for our community to connect with each other in the City.”
