Life plan for Victoria Park

With a population of 32,000, Victoria Park is an area of great character that borders the City of Perth in Western Australia.

The Council has adopted a plan based on life to deal with the challenges of the future.

CEO Arthur Kyron said as the area is undergoing a period of intense development and change, Council approved an ambitious direction for the organisation that has not been seen before in Local Government.

The document named “Plan for the Future” sets the path for the area and outlines the new corporate structure that is based around a life theme.

  • Community Life – Focussing on the development of healthy communities through events, facilities and programs
  • Business Life – Will provide support to ensure that the Town can grow and achieve its goals
  • Built Life – Promotes the development of the Town and ensures quality developments are built in the area
  • Renew Life – Enhances the existing infrastructure and appearance of the Town
  • Future Life – Managers the development of policies and procedures to ensure our future demands can be met

Arthur Kyron said the plan will focus on developing Victoria Park into a creative, attractive, friendly and environmentally sustainable place to live and do business.

“This new structure will ensure that projects set out in the Plan will be implemented and that strong working relationships are developed across the directorates.”

Key projects include:

  • a leisure facility master plan that will ensure the community has access to recreation space, sporting and healthy lifestyle options
  • a Lathlain Park master plan
  • a town centre precinct
  • encouraging and promote the arts within the town
  • establishing a town exhibition site that will showcase preferred housing in the area
  • promoting environmental sustainability
  • developing of a town greening plan
  • developing a streetscape beautification strategy.

The town is also focussing on the branding of the area to ensure that the integrity and grittiness of the area is kept during this time of change.
